The one time when Mikleo is guaranteed to fall asleep is after a particularly intense seraphic arte practice session. Mikleo knows the ‘tricks,’ but sometimes he pretends to fall for them - sometimes for the sake of fairness but mostly because he likes all of these activities. Tricks in the book include: 1) sparring until they’re both exhausted 2) gathering him up and scratching his nails lightly up and down Mikleo’s back until he’s boneless 3) convincing him to take a long, hot bath together He tries all the tricks in the book to get Mikleo to fall asleep so he doesn’t get an unfair advantage. When they’re in the midst of a debate or an academic-style competition, Sorey gets sour about Mikleo getting extra time to work since he doesn’t have to sleep. Some nights, if the weather is nice and Mikleo feels like staying awake under the stars, they’ll take out blankets and switch their normal sleeping positions - with Sorey curled up against Mikleo’s chest, so that Mikleo can lie on his back and look up at the sky. On nights when Sorey is restless, Mikleo will end up lying halfway on top of him, mostly because it is the safest place from flailing limbs. On nights when Sorey is dead tired and less likely to move in his sleep, Mikleo is the little spoon. Sorey started because he wanted to take care of Mikleo, too. It started because Sorey was bad about taking off his earrings, and they’d get in Mikleo’s face in the middle of the night.
The bedtime routine always includes taking off each others’ accessories. And since they have slept in the same bed since they were kids, it’s rather strange to sleep alone. Thus, it became habitual enough that Mikleo does sleep most nights. Even though Mikleo doesn’t need to sleep, he did have a bedtime when they were kids, mostly because if he got to stay up, Sorey would have been a nightmare to put to bed.
